Laser Vision Correction

Laser Vision Correction is an option for patients who are looking for an alternative to glasses and contact lenses to treat common vision problems (nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism)

Types of Laser Vision Correction

Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) is a laser refractive surgery technique that reshapes the surface of the cornea without the need to create a flap.

LASIK is a laser refractive surgery technique that reshapes the inner layers of the cornea after a flap is created.

Both ASA and LASIK work incredibly well to correct mild and moderate degrees of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The procedure that’s right for you depends on your unique situation and preferences.

In general, good candidates for laser vision correction:

  • Are at least 21 years old
  • Have healthy eyes
  • Have stable vision for 6-12 months prior to the procedure
  • Understand that they may still require reading glasses after age 40
  • Are willing to commit to follow up care
