IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CORONOVIRUS (COVID-19)

After reviewing new recommendations from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, we have decided to resume routine and follow-up eye exams in addition to providing emergency eye care. Elective surgeries (cataract, eyelid, and laser vision correction) can also be scheduled. However, if you are elderly or have medical conditions that make you more vulnerable to complications from coronavirus, it may be in your best interest to postpone your eye exam to a future date. We are resuming our normal business hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except Fridays when we may close early. Please call us at 515-225-2566 with any questions.

We want to make you aware of changes to our clinic policy to ensure your safety as well as the safety of our staff. First of all, we will be seeing fewer patients in order to maintain social distancing in our waiting rooms. Unfortunately, this means that we may not be able to get you in for your exam as soon as you would like. Secondly, we will be asking you a series of questions the day before your exam to make sure you are at low risk of having Covid-19 at the time of your exam. We will also be checking your temperature when you arrive at the clinic. All staff will be wearing masks, and we would like you to wear one as well (please bring a mask if you have one). Hand sanitizer will be available, and we would like you to use it when you enter the clinic.

In the exam rooms, we will be taking extra time to make sure all surfaces are disinfected between every patient exam. Our waiting room and entrance doors will be disinfected frequently.

This is a challenging time for all of us. Unfortunately, we don’t know when this pandemic will end. Until then, we will do our best to care for your eyes while adhering to these safety guidelines. Thank you for your continued understanding and support. We wish you good health and good vision.

I was having trouble reading the script that runs across the bottom of my tv.
I knew something was up and I asked my medical doctor if he knew of any good eye doctors. (I had gone to one in the area and I felt like it was more of an assembly line that I was subjected to). He said he had heard good things about Physicians. I checked out their website and found they were all ophthalmologists. I called and made an appointment with Dr. Hassan. Two days later I walked into their office and was quite impressed. I was greeted and made to feel welcome. After a short wait, I was taken back and had some tests (all done by the same person). When Dr. Hassan came in he did some more tests on me and discussed the results of what they had found. He then said he wanted a couple more tests which we did. He then told me that I needed glasses and the I had a cataract on each eye. He wanted me to come back the following day so we could make a plan of action. When I came back he ran a couple more tests. We then talked about if I wanted to go the direction of wearing glasses or if I wanted the cataracts removed. I asked lots of questions about both options and he took his time and gave me lots of advice. I never felt pressured or rushed (like I did at my old eye clinic). I am still thinking about what path to take but I really feel good about my options and about my decision to go to Physicians.

We were traveling through town and my dad had a hurt eye. It was the day after Christmas, we called in the morning, and despite being completely full, they were still willing to work him in for same-day appointment. We were very impressed with their willingness to help us, and Dr Kounkel was great

this clinic is amazing - my son had been going to Wolfe eye clinic in West Des Moines for about 3 years after he endured a paper cut at school ! I felt from the very beginning our doctor never really listened or cared for my son - but was too afraid to switch doctors since everyone told me they were the best. a few years into his care- his bad eye got scratched again and this time it got infected. I was desperate to get him into a specialist and his doctor at Wolfe couldn't get him in for another month. I knew we couldn't wait. I started calling around trying to get him in to see someone right away. PHYSICIANS eye clinic was first on my list and they had a cancellation and was able to get my son in the next day. from the front desk , to the nurse taking him back- to the doctor / s ( we have seen 2 at this clinic ) I could tell - we had finally landed in a place that cared. his primary doctor is Mrs. Amspaugh - she is a mom too , on top of being a doctor and you can tell she really cares. she is super smart - but does't treat you any less , like at WOLFE. I know her schedule was packed for the next few weeks but she literally would get my son in everyday on her lunch hour to follow up with his eye. after a few weeks under her care, she went on vacation and left us with her co/worker - Mr. Hassan - who is just as smart and kind.

we feel so grateful to have stumbled upon this office , filled with a staff of very smart , kind , helpful - caring doctors & staff.

Very friendly staff. The office was very busy the day I was there but my wait time was minimal. My doctor was very attentive and willing to take the time to answer all my questions. Overall, I would certainly recommend this office as they provide excellent care. Upon check in the staff were extremely helpful with insurance questions I had.
